getstamps

Using our service

A practical guide to setting up shipments, importing order details, and following labels created in getstamps.

getstamps is built around creating and tracking shipping labels. You can enter one shipment, upload a CSV or Amazon-format tab-delimited file for a batch, or connect Shopify to retrieve recent orders. The tracking dashboard shows labels created and stored in your getstamps account.

Supported ways to get started

1. Set up and create one shipment

  1. Create an account or sign in. Manual label creation does not require a separate store or carrier account.
  2. Open Generate Label. Enter sender and recipient names and addresses. Use the two-letter state abbreviation and a valid ZIP code.
  3. Enter package details. Add weight and dimensions, review the available label type, and check the price shown before submitting.
  4. Submit the shipment. A tracking number is assigned as the label is processed. The generated label is available from My Labels when it is ready.
  5. Download or print. Open the label in My Labels, download the PDF, and use the tracking number to follow the shipment in Tracking.

2. Create labels from a CSV or bulk file

Bulk Upload accepts CSV files and Amazon-format tab-delimited .txt files. Files can be up to 10 MB, with at most 500 selected orders per upload.

  1. Open Bulk Upload and choose a label type. Only active label types with the required template and tracking setup can be selected.
  2. Choose a file. Use .csv for a normal comma-separated file. An Amazon text export is detected when it is tab-delimited and contains Amazon-style headers.
  3. Review field mappings. Map columns to shipment fields. Required recipient data is recipient name (or first and last name), address line 1, city, state, and ZIP.
  4. Fix validation issues. Edit rows, set defaults for missing values, remove duplicates if needed, and select only valid rows.
  5. Process the selection. Processing queues label jobs. Follow the resulting labels and bulk group in My Labels or Orders, then download completed files.

This is a file upload, not a connection to the store that produced the file. There is no recurring import, order-status writeback, or automatic re-import after the upload.

3. Connect Shopify for a limited order retrieval flow

Shopify is the only store connector currently backed by an implemented OAuth and recent-order retrieval flow. It requires an authenticated getstamps account and a Shopify store domain.

  1. Open Shopify. From the signed-in navigation, open Integrations and choose Shopify.
  2. Enter the store domain. Enter the store name or its .myshopify.com domain, then choose Connect.
  3. Complete Shopify authorization. Follow the provider consent flow. Do not paste guessed credentials or keys into the page.
  4. Save the sender address. The Shopify page can keep a default sender address for imported order data.
  5. Choose Import Recent Orders (50). The flow requests up to 50 recent orders and converts the response to shipment-shaped data.

Important limitation: Shopify import currently returns converted order data to the integration flow; it does not automatically create labels, add those orders to My Labels, or put them in the Tracking dashboard. To ship those orders, use their details in Generate Label or export them from Shopify and use the CSV Bulk Upload flow.

4. Use the Tracking dashboard

After a label has been created in getstamps, open Tracking while signed in. The dashboard loads your account's labels and provides search by tracking number or recipient, status and date filters, label details and tracking timelines, refresh controls, and CSV export of visible tracking records.

Tracking events are collected for the tracking numbers associated with labels in this account. The timeline can be empty until the carrier has movement to report, and an external provider or carrier may take time to return a new event.
